Taking a tree out is the part of this job we take most seriously, because it is the one decision you cannot reverse.
We are qualified arborists based in Bonogin, and our default is to keep a tree if keeping it is practical and safe. When it is not, we remove it properly: assessed first, dismantled in a controlled way, and cleaned up so you would not know there had been a tree there.
It is dead or dying. Deadwood does not stay put. Dead trees also get harder and more expensive to remove the longer they stand, because the timber loses the strength a climber relies on.
It is structurally unsound. A split fork, a hollow trunk, root damage from an old excavation or a lean that has got worse are all reasons to act rather than wait.
It is too close to the house. Some trees are in a spot where no amount of pruning fixes the problem, particularly big species planted a metre from a slab thirty years ago.
It is lifting something expensive. Driveways, retaining walls, pool shells, plumbing.
It is the wrong species. Cocos palms, umbrella trees and camphor laurels cause more trouble on Gold Coast blocks than they are worth.
You are building. New pool, shed, extension or subdivision, and the tree is in the footprint.
If none of those apply, ask us about a reduction first. It is usually cheaper and you keep your shade.
Straight felling, where the whole tree comes down in one piece, only happens when there is a clear drop zone big enough for it. On acreage in Bonogin or Tallebudgera Valley that is sometimes possible. On a standard suburban block it almost never is.
Most of the time we climb and dismantle. The climber works from the top down, taking sections off in a planned order, and each piece is lowered on rigging ropes rather than dropped. That is how a large gum comes out of a backyard with a pool on one side and a shed on the other without anything being damaged.
Where the timber is too decayed to climb safely, we use an elevated work platform so nobody puts their weight on unsound wood. For very large trees or sites with genuinely no access, a crane lift is sometimes the safest option. It adds significant cost and we will always explain why before you commit to it.
This is the part people find frustrating when quotes come back thousands apart, so here is what we are actually pricing.
The tree itself. Height, spread and species. Bigger means more labour, more green waste and more time. A dead or unstable tree costs more than a healthy one of the same size because the work has to be slower and more controlled.
Access. The distance from the tree to where the truck can park, the width of the side gate, whether the Avant loader can reach the material, and how much has to be carried by hand. This moves the number more than anything else.
What is underneath. Pool, spa, fencing, retaining wall, powerlines, septic, glasshouse, the neighbour’s pergola. Every obstacle adds rigging time.
Green waste volume. A big canopy produces a lot of material. Our 18 inch, 264 horsepower chipper and 18 cubic metre mulch truck mean we process it fast and take it with us.
Extras. Stump grinding, traffic control, an EWP or crane hire, and whether you want the timber left for firewood.
Our team rate is $660 per hour over an eight hour day, or $4,400 for a discounted full day of around 7.5 hours. Most residential removals are quoted as a fixed price so you know the total upfront.
You book a free onsite quote and get a confirmation. On the day of the visit our system sends live tracking so you can see when we are arriving.
We assess the tree and the site, and give you honest advice, including whether removal is really the right call. You get a written quote with the scope in it.
If you go ahead, you get a booking confirmation, a reminder a week before and another 24 hours out. Larger multi-day bookings need a 10 per cent deposit to hold the dates.
On the day, the crew and gear turn up, the tree comes down in a controlled sequence, material is chipped as we go, and the site is raked and blown clean. The invoice follows and is due within seven days.
Most tree removal on private land on the Gold Coast is regulated under the City Plan Vegetation Management Code, and there are exemptions based on tree size and proximity to buildings and fences. We check it at the quote and tell you where you stand before anything is cut

A single medium tree with good access is often half a day. Large trees in tight spots, or multiple trees, can run one to several days. We give you a realistic estimate in the quote.
Yes. That is the majority of our work. The tree gets dismantled in sections and lowered on ropes rather than felled, so nothing lands where it should not.
