Qualified Arborist Services Gold Coast

There is no licence you need to call yourself a tree lopper in Queensland. Anyone with a ute, a ladder and a chainsaw can print business cards tomorrow.

An arborist is different. It is a qualification. It means someone who has been trained to look at a tree and understand what is happening inside it: where the structural weakness is, whether the lean is a problem or just how it grew, whether that fungus at the base means the tree has five years left or five months.

Jungle Jess is run by qualified arborists. Jess and Will, based in Bonogin, with more than 16 years in the industry between them and a crew of three qualified climbing arborists plus a ground worker.

Jobs Done

Sixteen years of refining how a job runs. The tree gets assessed before anything is cut, the rigging goes up before the climber does, and material is chipped as it comes down. That is why a big tree comes out of a tight yard without touching the fence.

Count

Why the qualification matters to you

Two reasons, and both cost money if you get them wrong.

The wrong tree gets removed. A tree that looks awful is often perfectly sound, and a tree that looks fine is sometimes hollow. Removing a healthy mature tree because someone guessed wrong is an expensive mistake you cannot undo.

The right tree gets ruined. Bad cuts do not heal. Topping a tree, which means cutting the main stems back to stubs, triggers a flush of fast weak regrowth attached to a rotting stub. Two or three years later that regrowth is heavier, less secure and closer to your roof than the original branches were. The cheap job becomes the expensive job.

What we handle

Tree Removal

Any size, including trees in tight backyards that have to be dismantled in sections and lowered on ropes

Tree lopping and crown reduction

People search for lopping, so we will use the word, but what we actually do is a proper reduction that leaves the tree healthy

Pruning to AS4373.

The Australian Standard for pruning amenity trees. Right branches, right cuts, right places

Tree trimming

Clearance work: branches off the roof, out of the gutters, away from the pool and clear of service lines

Palm removal and palm cleaning

Cocos palms out, feature palms maintained

Stump grinding

Ground out below the surface so you can turf, plant or pave over it

Emergency and storm work

When a tree is already down or partly down

Arborist reports and risk assessments.

For council applications, development approvals, body corporates and insurers

Body corporate and strata management.

Scheduled tree care across whole complexes, with documentation

The hard ones

Before we started Jungle Jess we were contracted by large commercial tree companies through Brisbane, out toward Toowoomba and across the Gold Coast. The work we got given was the work other crews turned down.

Dead trees that were not safe to climb conventionally. Trees in confined spaces with no drop zone at all. Structurally compromised trees leaning over houses. That is where you learn rigging properly, because there is no room for anything to fall.

We still take those jobs. If someone has already told you your tree is too hard, ring us before you accept that.

Foresee

What to expect

We come out and look at the tree, at a time you have booked, with live tracking so you know when we are arriving.

We assess it and tell you honestly what it needs, including a free visual health check on the rest of your trees while we are there. If pruning will fix it, we will tell you that rather than quoting a removal.

You get a written quote with the scope spelled out. If you go ahead, you get a booking confirmation, a reminder a week out and another the day before.

On the day, the crew turns up with the gear the job needs. The 18 inch chipper and 18 cubic metre mulch truck mean green waste leaves with us instead of sitting on your nature strip. The Avant articulated loader shifts heavy timber across lawn without tearing it up like a tracked machine would.

Then we clean up, and the invoice comes afterwards with seven days to pay.

Apparatus

Gear we bring in when a job needs it

Some trees cannot be climbed safely because the timber is too far gone. In those cases we use an elevated work platform so nobody puts their weight on unsound wood.

For very large trees, or sites with no access at all, a crane lift is sometimes the safest and fastest way. It costs more, and we will explain exactly why before you decide.

Answers to Common Questions Clearly

An arborist holds an arboriculture qualification and is trained to assess the tree before cutting it. Tree lopper is not a protected term and requires no qualification at all. We are qualified arborists.

Both. One palm, one overhanging limb, or a full acreage clear. Small jobs get the same assessment and the same clean-up.

Yes. Fully licensed and insured. We can send the certificate of currency through before we start if you want to see it.

Yes. A visual assessment is included free when we quote. If you need something formal in writing for a council, insurer or body corporate, that is an arborist report
