How Much Does Tree Removal Cost on the Gold Coast?

What actually changes the price of tree removal on the Gold Coast, what’s always included, and how to compare quotes properly.

“How much to take a tree out?” is the first thing almost everyone asks us, and it’s fair enough. The honest answer is that it depends, but not in a dodgy, “we’ll see how we go” way. A handful of things move the price, and once you know what they are, you’ll walk into your quote already knowing roughly where you’ll land.

Whatever your tree turns out to be, here’s the part that never changes: you get one fixed written price after we’ve seen it, with cleanup included. What you sign is what you pay. You can see exactly how that works on our Gold Coast tree removal prices page.

Why there’s no one-size price for tree removal

Two trees the same height can be completely different jobs. One might be a soft-timber tree in an open backyard that comes down in a morning. The other might be a mature hardwood leaning over a pool, with no way to get a machine near it. Same height, very different day’s work. That’s why we come out and look before we put a number on it.

What changes the price of tree removal on the Gold Coast

1. Size and species

A mature hardwood is a much bigger job than a soft-timber tree of the same height. Denser timber is heavier to lower, slower to cut and takes more chipping.

2. Access

If we can get the chipper and our Avant loader to the tree, the job moves quickly. If we have to carry gear in by hand and climb, it takes longer. Tight side passages, steep blocks and backyards with no driveway access all add time.

3. What’s underneath it

A tree over a pool, fence, shed or roof can’t just be dropped. It gets roped down in sections, which is skilled, careful work. This is the tough, technical side of the job, and it’s what we built our name on.

4. The condition of the tree

Dead, hollow or storm-damaged trees need more care, because they don’t always behave the way a healthy tree does. If a tree has already come down or is hanging after a storm, our emergency tree services page explains how we make it safe first.

5. Stump grinding

Grinding the stump out is optional. If you want the spot ready to turf, plant or build on, just add it to the quote. More on that on our stump grinding page.

6. What happens to the timber

By default, everything is chipped as it comes down and carted away. If you’d like the mulch for your garden beds or the firewood kept, say so at the quote and we’ll leave it.

7. Council approval

Gold Coast City Council protects a lot of trees, and some need approval before they can be removed. We check the rules and the mapping for your exact address at the quote, and if approval is needed we can write the arborist report and help with the application. Our tree removal permits guide covers the details.

What’s always included in a Jungle Jess quote

  • One fixed written price, given on the spot after we’ve seen the tree
  • Full cleanup: chipped, swept and cleared before we leave
  • Qualified arborists cutting to AS4373, the Australian Standard
  • Public liability and workers comp insurance
  • No call-out fee and no obligation to book

How to compare tree removal quotes

Getting two or three quotes is smart, and we’re happy for you to take ours and compare. Just make sure you’re comparing the same thing:

  • Is the price fixed and in writing, or is it an estimate that can grow?
  • Is cleanup included, or is it an extra on the final invoice?
  • Are they insured, and will they show you the certificates?
  • Are they qualified arborists, or someone with a chainsaw and a ute?
  • Does the quote include the stump, or just the tree?

A cheaper quote that leaves the mess, the stump and a surprise “it was bigger than we thought” call halfway through usually isn’t cheaper at all.

Will the price change once you start?

No. What you sign is what you pay. The only time the number changes is if you ask us to do more while we’re there, and even then you get a new price before we start on it. That’s part of the Jungle Jess Triple Guarantee: we show up on time, we stick to the quoted price, and we leave your property spotless.
